Texas is a large state that is found in the south-central region of the United States. It has a total area of 268,596 square miles and is expected to reach a population of 29 million by 2020. There are several popular cities in Texas. These cities offer a wide range of attractions and activities.

Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas is a North Central Texas city that became a major trading center for cowboys at the end of the Chisholm Trail. Today, it is home to international art institutions, the Fort Worth Stockyards, where rodeos are held, and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, which honors pioneer women.

Houston

Houston is the largest city in Texas and is home to the Port of Houston, one of the largest ports in the world. It is known for its aeronautics industry and energy industry and is the home of the world-famous Texas Medical Center. The city was first established in 1836 by the Allen brothers and saw an immediate growth in population. Within a few months, the population increased from about twelve to more than one thousand. In 1837, the first Texas Congress met here.

Dallas

Dallas, Texas is a major metropolitan area located in the state of Texas. The city started as a farming community, and relied on trade routes with Native Americans and the Fort Worth Stockyards to survive. In 1873, the construction of several rail lines through the city provided a major boost for the economy, and the city’s growth was set in motion. By the early 1900s, Dallas had become the largest inland market for cotton and a leading manufacturer of cotton gin machinery.

Plano

Plano is a northern Texas city that has much to offer visitors. In addition to its natural beauty, Plano also boasts many museums and historic sites. Its Heritage Farmstead Museum is a restored 19th-century farm with original tools and a replica 1895 schoolroom. There’s also the Interurban Railway Museum, which traces the history of the Texas Electric Railway through a vintage rail car. Oak Point Park features hiking trails through nature preserves. The city is also home to Southfork Ranch, which was the setting of the popular TV show, “Dallas.”

Arlington

Arlington is the number one event and convention center in Texas. With over 50,000 square feet of exhibit space, it regularly hosts conventions for a wide range of industries. Typical conventions include home, travel, and car shows. Arlington also has a number of restaurants, including fine dining, as well as movie theaters and ice rinks.

Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi is a port city in the Texas Gulf of Mexico, with a variety of attractions. The city is home to the Texas State Aquarium and a WWII aircraft carrier that is now a museum. The city’s beaches are sheltered by the islands of Padre and Mustang. Visitors can view migratory birds and endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles at the nearby Padre Island National Seashore. The Texas State Aquarium features touch pools, an aquatic nursery, and a shark exhibit. If you’re an aviation buff, the Naval Aviation Museum is another great place to visit.

Laredo

Laredo, Texas is located on the border of the United States and Mexico. During your stay in the city, you can visit the Republic of the Rio Grande Museum to learn about the short-lived independent nation and to explore the local culture and history. Another great place to visit is Los Dos Laredos Park, where you can walk across the border into Mexico. There are also hiking trails and a fish-filled lake in Lake Casa Blanca International State Park. For the children, you can also visit the Imaginarium of South Texas, a children’s museum.

McAllen

McAllen, Texas is located in the southern part of the United States. Known for its Spanish heritage, the city offers plenty of opportunities for visitors to explore its history and culture. The city has a number of museums, including the Quinta Mazatlan, a 19th-century Spanish Revival mansion. It also has a Heritage Center in a 1930s post office. It also offers several parks, including Fireman’s Park and a town lake.
